[prejudices and long-standing biases take on a whole new meaning in this changing society...]
—
[/i]"You should know what we're thinking, too. It's not just about you."
It is 2021, long after the dark lord was vanquished by the now-famous Harry Potter, head of the Auror Office. The next generation now attends Hogwarts—but, of course, no generation goes without its own fair share of troubles. While Lord Voldemort is long-gone, it seems that not all families are as open-minded as they seem."...Th-they... They called me 'filthy', M-Mum..."
With the new era, new laws have been implemented, clearly providing benefits to muggle-borns and certain half-bloods, almost as if to retaliate Voldemort's previously dark campaign for blood purity. Many open-minded individuals don't mind, but with this kind of open acceptance of muggle-borns (and, with that, muggles) rising up, the number of muggle-borns and half-bloods are increasing dramatically. Pureblood families are beginning to feel threatened. Previously neutral families that had not minded the presence of half-bloods, muggle-borns, and muggles are gradually coming to see them as threats to pure wizarding kind. And who can fault them, when the purity they had spent generations upon generations maintaining was going to finally be lost, at this rate?"They call us fools, but it's not us; it's them!
Almost as if silently protesting the abrupt influx of muggle-borns and half-bloods, certain pureblood families cling even more tightly to their long-established prejudices in regards to blood purity, and this bias, slowly albeit surely, is beginning to taint the minds of the children who attend Hogwarts. Purebloods coexisting peacefully with half-bloods, mudbloods, and even magical creatures? What a ridiculous notion."After all, Purebloods are the greatest, the most powerful, the most influential. Marrying others would sully that hard-earned pride..."
...So say certain purebloods, those who wish to preserve the purity they had always fought so hard for.
This time, it's not just one enemy. It's not even a singular being, like Voldemort was. This time, it's a gradually growing population of young witches and wizards from every single house in Hogwarts, not simply Slytherin, who want the wizarding world freed of taint. Of course, there are plenty of purebloods who think that muggle-borns and half-bloods are perfectly decent people, or not threats at all. And yet, there are others, all resting within different houses, willing to think the opposite....Such a twisted show of inter-house friendships.
And they call such issues 'simple'? Oh, but things have always been anything but. Since when was anything ever?
...This is war in everything but the physical sense. This is the wizarding world's tarnished simplicity, thrown aside as the darkness of reality rears its head. This is a mental and emotional conflict stirring up within society itself, tearing apart trust and neutrality from the inside."You have to understand our side of the argument as well. This isn't just some silly badge we wear. This is our pride, and you're asking us to just throw it away, after so many centuries...?"
