Break These Chains
Someday, I will be QUEEN:
but I will always be MYSELF.
::
I am in love with a boy . . . manufactured to destroy.
So I shall unravel my love; like an old red woolen glove.

They Can't Take Our Rights
Name: Officially, she is Princess Garnet Til Alexandros XVII, but she has other labels. Her real name is Sarah, given to her by her biological mother while she lived with her and the other summoners on the isle of Madain Sari as a child. And while on the run from Queen Brahne, she used the alias Dagger.
Age: 16
Personality: When the story begins, Garnet is an emotionally weak girl who strives to be bold. For a great majority of the game, her emotions were still rather unstable and she was lacking some major self-confidence. She is polite and well-mannered because of her position in royalty and because of her position, lacks street smarts and knowledge about life outside of the kingdom.
Surprisingly, living in luxury has not made Garnet an arrogant, spoiled child; she still knows how to care about people and she does -- she cares deeply for the people of her kingdom. Her downside is that she is quiet and while knowing what she wants to do, she does not know how to do it.
But Garnet has an inner strength inside her that not even she knows about. In the few instances that it emerged, she pulled rather daring stunts, such as her escape from Alexandria Castle and even tricking her own friends to eat food with sleep powder in it, so that they can't prevent her from returning to Alexandria and doing what she feels needs to be done. However, in both instances, she has serious second thoughts about the actions she just did; once again, her lack of confidence sinks in.
She is also a rather isolated person, and often doesn't feel comfortable sharing her innermost thoughts and thus, likes to keep her feelings inside. She bottles herself up and does not reveal what she is truly thinking about, which can sometimes lead to regretful feelings: "I should have said something ..." or "I should have done that instead ..." In her heart she wishes she can someone stronger -- someone like Zidane, who is as unpredictable as the future -- but her doubts, her worries and her lack of self esteem hold her back.
In many ways, Garnet was like a bird trapped in cage, who after much coaxing was finally released by Zidane. Because of him and her new friends, she was able to become more sure of herself, and more opinionated. She grew more confident in her actions and became emotionally stronger to deal with what was going on around her. She also learned a great deal more about what life was really like in the kingdom; how people really lived. Garnet was flung into her adventures as a rather helpless girl, but she emerged with confidence, maturity, and wisdom, prepared to be a good queen.
What game are you from/or are you a OC: Garnet is from Final Fantasy IX.
History: *coughSPOILERScough*Born to the summoner tribe inhabiting Madain Sari, Garnet lived her early childhood there with her mother. But their tranquil lives were shattered the day Garland attacked the island with the airship Invincinble, remembered by Garnet as a "giant eye in the sky".
Trying to escape the destruction of their island, Garnet and her mother brave the stormy seas on a little boat, crash landing at the shores of Alexandria, a kingdom on the Mist Continent. At this point, Garnet's mother had died, and she is alone when she is discovered by Doctor Tot.
In some strange coincidence, Garnet uncannily resembles the royal princess of Alexandria, who died of an illness shortly before Garnet's discovery. Instead of disheartening the people with the news that their beloved princess had died, Garnet was adopted by Queen Brahne of Alexandria. There was only one problem, though; Garnet had the trademark horn all summoners are born with. It was cut off in secrecy, and the story of the dead princess, or how she came to be was kept from Garnet.
Time went by rather normally for the next decade, but on the eve of Princess Garnet's birthday, she noticed her mother was acting strangely. Fearing for her, Garnet resolved to be spirited away to Lindblum, where her trusted uncle was Regent. Little did she know though, her uncle had already sent a band of thieves to retrieve her. This is how she met Zidane, a thief masquerading as an actor whose goal was to steal Garnet.
What followed was an incredible adventure that spanned over two planets! Garnet was thrust into a merciless gauntlet that nearly killed her and her newly-made friends. It turned out her suspicions her correct; her mother was not well, and had not been since she was coerced into waging war with all the other continents with the goal of gaining control of four jewels that summoned Eidolons, powerful creatures that were naturally the responsibility of the summoners. Dagger, who was in possession of the silver pendant, was suddenly expendable to Brahne and in grave danger, and was captured by Zorn and Thorn, who extracted her Eidolons.
Recovered by Zidane and the gang, Dagger decided to stop her mother and return her to normal after watching her destroy Lindblum and Cleyra. Garnet prepared to confront the queen. Kuja murdered her with Bahamut before she was able to reach her, though.
Thus, in the light of tragedy, Garnet was crowned queen of Alexandria, and was separated from the gang again. Kuja appeared to interrupt the coronation ceremony by unleashing Bahamut on the castle in an attempt to draw out the hidden Eidolon Alexander. Alexander was summoned by Garnet and Eiko, and it defeated Bahamut only to be destroyed by the airship Invincible.
Garnet was so affected by the accumulated trauma she had suffered that she sunk into a mute depression, blaming herself for all the death and suffering that had occurred. Doctor Tot also took this time to reveal to the new queen her origins. She was not, in fact, the late Queen Brahne's daughter, and actually a refugee from Madain Sari after it was attacked by the Invincible in her childhood.
It took much convincing from Zidane, Vivi, a young black mage, and Steiner, her guard, to get her to rejoin the party and fight Kuja. Realizing that nothing would get better unless she helped, she cut her hair away and with that gesture released all her sorrow and guilt. Garnet left her crumbling country to end the evil that had attacked Gaia once and for all.
Once on the planet Terra, Kuja, who was revealed to be Zidane's brother, was confronted once more. Here they found a planet full of people without souls, and it was revealed by Garland that Zidane is one of them. In addition to being a genome, Garland adds that Zidane and Kuja were meant to destroy the planet Gaia to ensure the survival of Terra. Kuja kills Garland, achieves trance, and destroys Terra, which the party narrowly escapes.
The now insane Kuja follows them back to Gaia, intent on destroying this world as well. They fight him for the last time at the Iifa Tree. Then, at the very last moment, Zidane and Garnet are separated as Zidane returns to find the dying Kuja.
Heart-broken, Garnet goes home to rule Alexandria, and tries to get on without Zidane, who she assumes was gone forever. They are reunited some time later (It isn't known how much time passes, but it is shown that Garnet's hair has grown back, so a year at the least.) with the words "Bring my beloved Dagger to me!"
Face Claim: Not necessary, she isn't an original character.
