Personality:
Rydia has always been a very tough and a very strong girl. Even when she was only seven years old, she learned how to take care of herself and not to rely on others to protect her. She isn't one bit sensitive at all and it takes a lot to make her truely break down and cry. She learned how to be tough and not let emoition come out too easily. This doesn't mean that she is cold and heartless though. Rydia is a very kind soul and she is always willing to help her friends in anyway that she can. While she doesn't like or need to be protected, she is always helping and making sure that her friends are safe. She will of course protect them should they need it.
For the most part, Rydia is a very happy sort of person. She was a bit colder when she was younger, not wanting anyone to come near her, or help her. But as she grew older she became much more happy and friendly. She has a lot of spunk also. Rydia doesn't let anyone push her around, or tell her what to do. She will stand up for herself and show her strength.

History:
Rydia was a young girl who lived in a secluded town called Mist. Rydia and most of the other townspeople were the remaining Callers of the world, other wise known as Summoners. Callers had the ability to call or summon monsters to help protect themselves. For the first seven years of her life, she learned in the ways of monsters, and gained the abilities of a Caller, Black Mage, and White Mage.
She lived a carefree life in the village, living with her mother. Her mother would protect the entire village by summoning her Mist Dragon. She and the entire village had no idea what would happen next. The King of Baron, a near by Kingdom, was against the Callers, in fear of their power. The King took advantage of Cecil, and sent him and Kain on a mission with a package. (bomb ring). They entered the village, and the bomb exploded, sending the villaige into flames. All the villagers were killed in the blast, but Kain and Cecil heard a small voice of a young girl. Rydia. Since her mother's dragoon had been killed, she had passed away as well. Cecil and Kain urged Rydia to come with them, but she refused. =( Kain tells Cecil that they can't leave her there, and they decide to take her by force. Rydia isn't a weak little girl, even at the young age of seven. She fights back, and calls Titan to come and help her. Kain and Cecil are defeated, and so is the pathway to the village because of the earth quake.
Rydia and Cecil wake up alone, and he takes her to a near by inn in Kaipo. Guards attack them in the night. Somehow, Baron has found out that one remaining Caller has survived. Cecil protects Rydia, and Rydia decides to almost forgive him for what he and Kain had done to her mother.

Rydia has to deal with being away from her mother, and at the same time, she meets Edward, the singing Bard. Edward had just seen the killing of his girlfriend Anna, and was devasted. Rydia doesn't seem to be able to accept that a grown man was crying, when she is a child, and she was brought up to be strong. "You're not the only one who has lost loved ones!"
Though Rydia is strong and able to take care of herself, she is still treated like a child. When she, Cecil, Rosa, Edward and Yang enter Fabul, and go into war, both Rydia and Rosa are forced to stay behind are care for other people in Fabul. Later in the game, she takes it upon herself to change that...
After the long tedious battles with easy enemies, Rosa is taken by Golbez, and Cecil, Yang, Edward and Rydia plan to make their trip to Baron. The king of Fabul gave them a ship to get their, because that is their weakest defense.
When they were sailing, the winds were odd. The sailors were all a mess, talking about tales of Sea monsters and fairy tails. It turns out that they were right about the Sea Monster. A large see dragon/serpent was swimming in the water, in the midst of a whirlpool. It was Leviathan. Their ship was being drawn into the centre, closer to the monster. It was Leviathan, and Rydia ended up falling off the ship. Yang jumped off the ship to try to save her. Cecil and Edward called to both of them. Yang and Rydia disapeered, assumed to have been swallowed by Leviathan.
A lot of time passes. A lot has happened in this time too. Rosa has been saved, and world has been opened with the Magma key to find the crystal of dark to go to the moon. Everything seems to be going wrong for Cecil, Cid, Kain, Rosa, and Yang. They headed down into the UnderWorld, and a huge battle is going on. They try to avoid the gun fire, but are hit multiple times. They land the crashed ship near a castle or dwarves. Cid decides to return to the surface to get the airship fixed. The first crystal of darkness is inside the castle. They talk to the king, and tell them about their predicament. Yang senses that there is someone in the back room.... Strange dolls were there, calling themselves Cal and Brena. They form one big monster, Calbrena (or Calcobrena), and attack. Their job was to retrieve the first crystal for Golbez. They failed, so Golbez shows up to personally destroy you.
Golbez somehow has the powers of a Caller. He calls a Shadow dragon to come and help him in battle. The dragon wounds each member, and only Cecil is left standing with one ounce of strength left. Suddenly, a white dragon comes out from behind Cecil, and destroys the Shadow dragon. It was the Mist Dragon! Rydia runs into battle, and Cecil and Rydia destroy Golbez...Almost...Golbez' hand takes the crystal.
Rydia is back in your group. She has lost her powers of a white mage, but has become highly skilled in Black Magic and Calling. She also looks a lot different too. She has grown older because of the strange time of flow in the underworld. She is almost as old as Rosa.
