He came into her apartment HE LEFT THE BLOODSTAINS ON THE CARPET. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Sora's footsteps leave their mark on the sand, paced and even, not too deep - not too shallow. The Keyblade Wielder knows this path by heart, and he knows without a doubt that he's going the right way. It's been a long time, he tells himself. Maybe it's not there anymore. Destiny Islands is something so far-off to him - even as he stands in it now. His lips press together in deep thought as the boy continues to walk, feels his footsteps fall into he stand and mold it, shape it. A smile grows on his face as he walks, and he's so nostalgic. Thoughts of Kairi, thoughts of Riku, thoughts of childhoods and innocence. His heart swells, and warmth spreads from the core of him all the way out to his fingertips.
The boy continues to walk, fingers itching to touch the contours of the cave and the details; feel the wet hardness of it, feel the memories and hear the water drip in the distance. He sees it in the distance, and although he's walking, he aches to run. His blue eyes shimmer with childish glee.
Sora breaks into a sprint, then, doesn't care whether either of his two friends know that he's here - and keeps running; faster, faster. He stops as soon as he reaches the cave, breathless - insane. He closes his eyes for a moment, and then opens them, and imagines that he's younger and free. The Keyblade Wielder begins to walk, having memorized this path and everything in it, and stops as soon as he sees a familiar drawing.
A boy, a girl, a Paopu fruit.
He almost blushes in embarrassment, and then sits in front of it - feels his eyes closing almost uniform, and his hands rest on his thighs: palms up.
This is the first time he's tried to disappear here.
Sora breathes evenly, lets the oxygen fill his lungs and feels himself being erased from existence. This is not The World That Never Was. This is Heaven on Earth. He doesn't feel as Sora, but as the world. This connection isn't made easily, and he knows only a few - including himself - can do this.
He wonders briefly if two souls doing it at the same time can meet.
Cross boundaries and worlds.
"Tell me someone's here.."
His voice is of the wind.

"Nobody's here."
Axel wouldn't have said so if it weren't true. He'd come back to Destiny Islands, set foot on the play island where he hadn't dared to back when he kidnapped Kairi, and ended up following when he spotted Sora heading into the cave from one of the walkways. He'd hesitated to call out for just a moment, and lost the opportunity--and while heading in after him was probably asking for trouble Axel still had mysterious corridors of darkness on his side.
So now he was leaning against the cavern wall, arms crossed, eyes narrowed, his whole position distant. Just like when Roxas passed by him in The World That Never Was--like he didn't want to stake a claim, get too involved, care too much, just in case everything went south. His gaze, though, said You're disappearing on me too, huh. "Whatcha up to?" he asked, forcing an almost-casual tone into his voice, even though he could already see that. For that matter, he wasn't even sure if Sora could still hear him, but Axel was a bit of a chatterbox. He wouldn't hesitate to talk even in those situations when his voice couldn't reach.

I'll be there for you WHEN THE RAIN STARTS TO POUR. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Sora's quiet for the longest time, blue eyes closed and body remaining slack - mind racing through generations of time, ages, famine and happiness. The Keyblade Wielder always feels a sense of completion whenever this happens, whenever he feels himself racing through time and crossing boundaries. There's a content smile on his face, oh-so different from the scowl of those he sees.
A voice penetrates that barrier, rips through him and sends shudders through his spine - causes the boy to gasp softly before opening his eyes a crack - hazy, glazed. He looks towards the one who approached him, gaze blurred and almost-unseeing.
".. Hi."
His remark is lame and of no confidence, and he looks much like a vulnerable child. Sora's hand lifts a tad, waves.
"Can you.. repeat that?"
His smile is still childish, still unbelievably cute - but the meaning in it is partially glazed over with faint fatigue. Being awakened from disappearing isn't quite something he has to get used to. "I'm.. sorry, Axel, I-I didn't hear you.."
Sheepish smile, blush spreading on his face.
Vulnerability.

Axel sucked in a slow breath and resisted the temptation to run to him, grab him, shake him, check him over--trying to stay calm above all things. This wasn't Roxas. This wasn't his responsibility, even if he'd die again before he saw either of them hurt. Nonetheless, seeing Sora like that was...different. The kid was stuttering, hesitant, looked almost sickly, not all there--of course, Axel had just walked in on him vanishing to somewhere.
But maybe he was overreacting. Maybe it was no big deal, even if disappearing had never been a good thing in Axel's entire history, with the possible exception of Roxas vanishing off the clock tower at his side. At least then he'd known exactly where Roxas was going.
The fact that Sora might vanish at a moment's notice too made him feel like his brain would snap in two if he kept caring about this kid. Not caring. Whatever a Nobody called it.
"I was, y'know, in the area. Just wondered what was up," he said with a casual shrug, annoyed that his voice betrayed him enough to be a little fainter than usual. "Looked like you were takin' a one-way ticket to Imagination Land. I interrupt somethin' important?" There was always something more important to Roxas, and Axel had always understood and never begrudged him that. He wondered why Sora seemed different...maybe because he saw Sora as Roxas's keeper. Heh, funny. Seems like it should be the other way around.

Sakura no hanabira chiru tabi ni TODOKANU OMOI GA MATA HITOTSU. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Sora's slowly gaining back his hold on the world, and he wobbles a little; manages to stand without falling back down on his butt. He looks toward Axel and grins. It's back to its charming, cheerful one. He doesn't look like he's disappearing anytime soon - not anymore. His blue eyes sparkle with life, and his spiky locks only complement that - going in numerous directions, so much like what the boy's been through. He rubs the back of his head at Axel's question, one eye closed and his grin quickly changing to something sheepish. Again, he's caught off-guard, and he shrugs.
"Nah, you haven't," he says, giving a little nod and looking towards the Nobody, hand on his hip and other hand now lying slack. "Are you lonely?"
The question comes out of nowhere, and it's strange, but Sora asks it anyway. He's lonely, anyway, since Kairi and Riku are probably off doing something else. Axel is somewhat like an escape - a friend (if you could call it that--); someone that would make Sora smile and laugh like a normal person. Someone that could change the fact that he could save the world.

The tense fold of Axel's arms broke when Sora faltered, but he only shifted his weight back to his center and put one hand on his hip casually. The fact that Sora was grinning like that put him at ease, and he offered a wry half-grin in response. Even so, it made him wonder if Sora wasn't belittling something important. Sora wasn't the type to lie unless it was a white one.
"Are you lonely?"
That question caught Axel in the middle of a breath, about to make some meaningless snark that Sora would either pout or grin at, and he blinked in surprise. "W--uhhh." He spread his hands a little sarcastically. No one could argue that he was alone--Xion and Roxas were gone as far as he knew, the Organization was gone, even Naminé was gone--but "loneliness" wasn't something that really applied. Even if he'd definitely come down here to have some human contact for the first time in a little while. "'M not exactly equipped, but kinda. You?" he asked, tilting his head just slightly. On Axel it never looked innocent, only calculating.
Then he blinked at something past Sora's knee. "Mmn? Oh, hey...that you?" he added with a nod towards the rock. From what Axel could see, it was a drawing of Sora and a few other things he couldn't completely make out, but it looked like paopu fruit was involved. At first he thought Naminé must have been there, but then he noticed the other drawings on the rock walls and realized that it could have been almost anyone on the island. "...Huh." A faint smile twitched at the corners of his lips for some reason, but not without a hint of self-mockery. This entire island was Sora, Riku, and Kairi's territory, dwarfing the significance of Twilight Town's clock tower in an instant. There was a whole history here, just in this cave, that he and Roxas and Xion could never have.
