Soul Kombat
This should not have happened.
I battled my enemy atop the tallest tower of the Castle Ostrheinburg, our swords clashing constantly as both attempted to best the other in what would have been the end of our fued. I fought myself more than anyone else- the entity in front of me, consumed by the dark energy of the cursed sword, Soul Edge, was merely a shell of what I would become if I continued down the selfish path that consumed me years ago. All but a Nightmare to me now, though the foe I fought was very real indeed.
As the two of us began to tire, a new enemy approached, looking to utilize the power of both Soulcalibur and Soul Edge for his own gain. He waited for us atop the Tower of Remembrance. The two of us, meaning Nightmare and I, turned on this man, Algol, and were able to defeat him. Thinking it would end with that, we resumed our fight.
We were wrong. As our fight continued, it became clear that Algol's presence had changed things. For from the east, an army approached, their numbers unlike anything I had ever seen. They overtook the both of us easily, taking advantage of our exaustion. Their leader presented himself to us. Shao Kahn.
He took both blades, amazed with the power they held. He let loose on me with my own blade, and left me to die atop the tower. When I awoke, Shao Kahn, his entire army, and Nightmare were all gone. And what is worse- both of the legendary blades were missing.
That was only a short time ago. Now, Shao Kahn actively attacks the earth, his armies led by Nightmare and the others who were tainted by the cursed sword. Earth lies in shambles, the plaything of Shao Kahn's ambition. His armies have spread across a large portion of the civilized world. Only a few lands still hold out. The situation is grim.
However, new allies have made their presences known. Those who know of this Shao Kahn and wish to ally themselves with those that wish to destroy the cursed sword. All of them, great warriors. Some rule their own kingdoms. Their strength could provide the push necessary to overcome Shao Kahn.
Yet, the time runs low. Soon, Shao Kahn will conquer the earth, and then there will be nowhere for us to run. I will not let this happen. I, Siegfried Schtauffen, promise that to whoever reads this.
